General manufacturer starting points

Make every quote answer the same questions

  • What exact model, rail route and seating options are included?
  • Are delivery, installation, user training and tax included?
  • Is electrical or other preparation separate, and who arranges it?
  • What warranty covers components, labor, travel and batteries?
  • What could maintenance, a fault visit and eventual removal cost?

New, reconditioned or rental?

OptionWhat to compare
NewCurrent model, chosen seat and powered features, custom rail terms, installation and warranty exclusions.
Professionally reconditionedCondition, inspection and replacement record, batteries, compatible rail, the unit's own warranty and available service.
Rental, if offeredEligible staircase type, setup, minimum months, ongoing rent, maintenance, cancellation and collection.

Do not compare a monthly rental payment with a purchase total. Add the charges over the period you expect to use the equipment. Availability of each option depends on the provider and your assessed staircase.

A used chair is not a fitted solution

Before buying secondhand equipment, confirm that a suitable installer can supply the correct rail, inspect it and support the model. A low asking price is not evidence of compatibility, a complete installation kit or an adequate warranty.

Agree the terms before paying a deposit

Check the route drawing, selected options, order stages and cancellation provisions. Ask whether custom manufacture changes the terms. Keep a copy of the written proposal and do not rely on an advertised installation time or buy-back promise without its specific terms.

Before a Scranton–Wilkes-Barre-area assessment

Scranton and Wilkes-Barre are separate service locations. Give the actual municipality, county and ZIP code for any assessment request, and ask who will return for service there. Do not assume an advertisement for one end of the region proves coverage at the other. Compare your full measured rail route, not a region-wide starting price.
